Peak hour traffic often stopped ambulances on congested roads, delaying emergency responses. To expedite the rescue, New Taipei City introduced the nation's first "Smart Traffic Control for Ambulance " on Zhuwei Road in Tamsui District. Synchronizing with the ""Immediate Service Life Guardian - Smart Cloud Dynamic Ambulance System", the traffic control cloud detects the GPS location of an ambulance and activates green lights in advance at congested intersections, ensuring unimpeded passage to transport patients rapidly to the Tamsui Mackay Memorial Hospital. With the system in place, an average 15 seconds is saved per ambulance dispatch. This smart solution won itself the "2021 Smart City Innovative Application Award" in the category of Smart Safety.
In addition, 100 ambulances were also upgraded to become "Tech-enabled Mobile Ambulances" with an aim to optimize the quality and efficiency of emergency medical services. These new vehicles are equipped with various paramedic hardware and software. All in all, the “Smart Cloud Dynamic Ambulance System" has saved 1,700 individuals over the past decade, ranked number one among the nation’s fleet.
