In accordance with the strategic goal of ‘Information Security is National Security’ and building a smart city where citizens feel safe and secure, the New Taipei city government established Taiwan’s first ‘Comprehensive Cybersecurity Joint Defense System’ as well as a Cybersecurity Laboratory. The unified ‘in-depth defense’ mechanism facilitate a stronger information protection at grass-root agencies and also regional joint defense, so that information security is widely and comprehensive covered. A proactive monitoring and protection mechanism is also introduced to build the ‘Cybersecurity Unified Command Platform’ that ensures all agencies conform with consistent standards in cybersecurity management and technologies. By doing this, the city has an elevated security protection, related infrastructure and communication networks are more resilient and safe. The ‘Comprehensive Cybersecurity Joint Defense System’ received the ‘Future Security Innovation Award’ under 2023 IDC Future Enterprises Awards, the first time in seven years a Taiwanese public sector entity is awarded with the medal, reflecting international recognition of New Taipei’s achievements in developing a smart city utilizing security technology.
