Riding the tide of digital economy, the New Taipei City government launched the NewTaiPAY app—NewTaiPAY platform, which is able to distribute New Taipei dollars using a municipal interactive reward mechanism, accelerate transformation to digital payments and create a contactless, low-carbon new economy model. The city government collaborates with contracted merchants and pushes promotion to attract customers, and residents can redeem credit points for preferred gifts, including earning credits to offset carbon footprint. NewTaiPAY not only allows citizens to save energy and reduce carbon, but also entertain their desire for shopping, creating a win-win for economy and environment.
The nationwide NewTaiPAY continues to integrate further resources to ehnance feasbility and effectiveness of government services. It is also negotiating collaboration with mobile payments introduced by other counties and cities in order to expand penetration. New TaiPAY also facilitates public welfare by working with major convenience stores to help children and teenagers in need, shaping a new, loving, caring digital economy. Such a successful cross-domain digital economy model was recoganized widely and received the “GO SMART Award” as well as the “2023 IIA International Innovation Award”.
